Islam is disastrous for artistic and academic freedom

.
The following video shows the aftermath of the attack on the cartoonist Lars Vilks at the Uppsala University in Sweden (with English subtitles). It's a disgraceful scene of Islamist intolerance towards Western artistic and academic freedom (and freedom of speech in general). Muslims who think their religion is above criticism and mockery should go live in backward countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, not in Sweden or the Netherlands. In the free West everything can be criticized and mocked upon. Religious totalitarianism is disgusting. Freedom of speech is not negotionable.

Obama administration systematically downplays Islamic terrorism

.
Toby Harnden
notices that the Obama administration is systematically downplaying Islamic terrorism:

There has been a pattern developing with the Obama administration trying to minimise terrorist attacks. We saw it with Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, a Muslim convert who murdered a US Army recruit in Little Rock, Arkansas in June. We saw it with Major Nidal Malik Hassan, a Muslim with Palestinian roots who slaughtered 13 at Fort Hood, Texas last month. In both cases, there were Yemen connections. Obama began to take the same approach with Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. We’ll see whether this incident shakes him out of that complacency. Whether it’s called the war on terror or not, it’s clear that the US is at war against al-Qaeda and radical Islamists.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali talks about Islam and Western culture

.
Here's a video of Ayaan Hirsi Ali talking about Islam and Western culture (at a meeting of the National Press Club in 2007). The introduction of Hirsi Ali's speech takes five minutes, so you can skip that.

FBI's political correctness with regard to jihadist attack at Fort Hood

.
Two days ago, The Wallstreet Journal published an
article about the FBI's political correctness with regard to army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan, the radical Muslim who murdered and wounded fellow-soldiers at Fort Hood. Here's a quote:

For the FBI, religion remains a much too sensitive subject, much more so than the threatening ideologies of yesteryear. Imagine if Maj. Hasan had been an officer during the Cold War, regularly expressing his sympathy for the Soviet Union and American criminality against the working man. Imagine him writing to a KGB front organization espousing socialist solidarity. The major would have been surrounded by counterintelligence officers.

Christopher Hitchens' latest column at Slate is also worth reading.

Christopher Hitchens talking about the United Nations and blasphemy laws

The following video is from February this year, and therefore "old news". However, it is a very important video, about Muslim countries using the United Nations to ban any criticism of Islam. After an introduction on the topic, CNN's Lou Dobbs interviews Christopher Hitchens.

'Former Muslims United' gives ex-Muslims a voice in the United States

.
Recently, The Washington Times published an interesting article about Former Muslims United, a new organization of ex-Muslims in the United States. Ibn Warraq is one of the founders of the organization:

"There is a tendency to downplay the dangers of Shariah law and thecreeping Islamization of the West," said the Pakistani-born author Ibn Warraq, author of the 2003 book "Leaving Islam.""The left tends to be very critical of Christianity but not of Islam," headded. "Islam gets away with it."

Nonie Darwish, another founder of Former Muslims United, is quoted as follows:

No other religion on earth demands the death of those who leave it - except the mafia. And at least you choose to enter the mafia. But you are born into Islam.

I recommend to read the whole article, and visit de website of Former Muslims United.
